WHAT IS AN ADOPTION HOME STUDY?
And why do I even need one?
A home study is a comprehensive assessment regarding an adoptive hopeful parent(s) capability and suitability to adopt. An approved home study is required for adoption and is submitted to the court for consideration prior to the legal adoption taking place.
The home study process also allows adoption social workers to educate and prepare families for adoption.

WHAT WILL WE BE ASKED ABOUT?
As part of the home study process adoption social workers assess the mental, physical, and financial health of the adoption hopeful parent(s) as well as if their preparation for having a child in the home and understanding of how adoption impacts children.
WHAT IF WE DON'T QUALIFY?
At FF, we know there are no perfect parents. If preliminary information indicates you may not meet the legal requirements for adoption, we will let you know and do our best to provide resources to help equip you to qualify in the future.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT OUR HOME VISIT?
Your adoption consultant will want to do a complete walk through of your home and interview each household member. You should plan at least two hours for the home visit.
